It was told that Dr. A. B. Simpson, founder of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, was seen holding the globe to his chest with fingers pointing to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, weeping and praying for the people living in darkness without the hope of the Gospel. In the spring of 1911 God began answering that prayer, when a team of C&MA missionaries lead by Robert A. Jaffray arrived in Tourane (now Da Nang). Soon the Gospel began to spread – the Bible translated, lives changed, churches formed, pastors and leaders raised up. In spite of great adversities over the years the Vietnamese church today claims more than 1 million believers and growing. All this because of the grace of God!
This year at Hội Đồng Giáo Hạt in Southern California we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Gospel arriving in Vietnam. You don’t want to miss this event. Hội Đồng Giáo Hạt will take place at Fullerton State University from July 3rd to July 5th. On Saturday July 2nd, Giáo Hạt will join with other denominations for a united celebration at the Crystal Cathedral. It will be a big event all day, to be conducted in Vietnamese.
